Papa Ola Lokahi (POL) was created to help plan and establish the Native Hawaiian Health Care Systems (NHHCS).  POL and the five NHHCS are private, not-for-profit, charitable organizations, which receive federal funding under the Native Hawaiian Health Care Improvement Act of 1988.  The NHHCS provide health promotion, disease prevention, and primary health care services to Native Hawaiians and residents of the state of Hawaii.
